The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Marine Resources and Cooperatives of St Kitts and Nevis arranged the ‘Back to My Rootz’ Agri Night Market in association with the on Thursday, February 23, 2023. The Minister of Agriculture, Samal Duggins, shared some glimpses from the event on his social media account.
The event was arranged at the Basseterre Public Market from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The people of St Kitt and Nevis were invited to attend the night market. Minister Samal Duggins shared his experience at the Agri Night Market: Last night’s ‘Back to My Rootz’ Agri Night Market was a resounding success!
During the Agri Market, Back to My Rootz, Minister Samal Duggins made a special effort to dialogue with as many of our farmers, Agri-Processors and entrepreneurs as possible. He confessed that the most common query that he received during these interactions was the people asking, “When is the next Agri-Night market?”
Accordingly, Minister of Agriculture Samal Duggins expressed that the question is important because our food heroes and entrepreneurs should not have to wait extended periods for opportunities to sell and promote their produce and products. Here he also observed that very similar events occur weekly in neighbouring islands.
Accordingly, Minister Duggins announced that the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Marine Resources and the cooperatives is working diligently with the Small Business Development Centre to provide this experience monthly. He also shared that he was extremely proud of the development of his ministry. He explained that regular opportunities must be available to our food heroes and entrepreneurs to market and sell their products.
