Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, who also handles the responsibility for the social security ministry, marked his attendance at the awarding Ceremony of the 2022-2023 Susanna Lee High School Scholarship Awards under the umbrella of St Christopher and Nevis Social Security Board Scholarship Programme. Thirteen Students from the 8 Public High Schools in St Kitts and Nevis had the honour of receiving the scholarships.
The award ceremony for the event took place on Thursday, February 23, 2023. The following deserving students from thirteen St Kitts and Nevis schools received the scholarships at the event. The Minister of Social Security, Dr Terrance Drew, also delivered some remarks for the benefit of the students.
This year’s recipients are:
- Tamyiah Hodge and Joshyan Percival of the Washington Archibald High School
- Jah-Rule Ryan of the Cayon High School;
- Tariek Hendricks of the Basseterre High School;
- Anaikwan Dormoy of the Verchilds High School;
- Shequan Liddie, Denyjah Matthew and K’Zenique Flemming of Charles E. Mills Secondary School,
- Vaydan Clarke-Neal and Kezia Phillip of the Gingerland Secondary School (Nevis)
- Jayisha Christopher of Charlestown Secondary School (Nevis)
- Yeshua Langley and Raiden Blair of the Saddlers Secondary School.
During Thursday’s Ceremony, seven fifth-form graduates of the programme were also recognised for their academic achievements in the recent CSEC Examinations.
In addition to the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, several other prominent government members of St Kitts and Nevis, including Deputy Prime Minister Dr Geoffrey Hanley, Minister responsible for Education et al., were also in attendance at the ceremony.
Additionally, Marilyn Johnson, Social Security Director Ag, Janet Harris, Chair of the Social Security Board, Board Members and Staff of Social Security, Chief Education Officer Lisa Archibald-Pistana, Parents and other well-wishers of the students were also present at the event. Senior Minister Denzil Douglas also extended his congratulations to the students.
This annual High School Scholarship is awarded to deserving Students and is one way Social Security partners with our students’ Education.
