The Minister of Agriculture and fisheries, Samal Duggins has taken to his social media account to share an update on the upgradation of the fisheries facilities in St Kitts and Nevis. He noted that the people of St Kitts and Nevis would get access to upgraded facilities and shared that the ministry has started to work on the plans to upgrade all the facilities.

Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Samal Duggins highlighted that these upgradation plans formed an important part of the commitments he made during the July-August 2022 election campaign. Here, Minister Duggins drew special attention to the work concerning the Old Road Fisheries Complex and expressed that he was proud of the development in the area.

Minister Samal Duggins expressed, through his social media account, that in 2023 the fishermen and fisherwomen of Constituency No four will benefit from a fully upgraded facility. The upgrades being taken up in this regard include the recommissioning of the commercial ice machine, which has been down for some time. He confirmed through his social media post that the government had ordered the missing parts of the ice machine. The parts are expected to arrive in a matter of months.

Talking further, Minister Samal Duggins stated that This prospect is exciting. He reasoned that this signifies that this year the community and the country will see the resumption of the sale of fresh and frozen fish from the Old Road Complex.

Old Road Complex Community is a part of Minister Samal Duggin’s Constituency #4. He is especially excited about the speed with which the department has undertaken developmental procedures in the particular community.
