Minister of Sports and Creative Economy Samal Duggins welcomed the sporting phenomenon of St Kitts and Nevis Jahzara Claxton back into the federation after her first successful tour of South Africa. The minister of Sports was a large contingent of teachers, schoolmates, football and cricket fraternity members, family, friends and well-wishers.
Samal Duggins, along with all the family members and friends of the young sportswoman, welcomed the sixteen-year-old from the first tour of her career. Ambassador Kenneth “Kenny” Douglas was also a part of the delegation that received the young cricketer from her trip. Accordingly, Minister Duggins expressed that he and Ambassador Douglas was extremely proud to be a part of the moment.
Claxton travelled to South Africa with the Under 19 Women’s Team of West Indies Cricket. Samal Duggins took his social media to honour Claxton’s successful maiden trip. He expressed that No words could describe the emotion and jubilation felt by all present yesterday as a large contingent of teachers, schoolmates, members of the football and cricket fraternities, family, friends, and well-wishers welcomed home 16-year-old sports phenomenon Jahzara Claxton, from her tour of South Africa with the West Indies under 19 Women’s Team.
At the time of the trip, Minister of Sports and creative economy Samal Duggins had met with Jahzara Claxton’s parents to congratulate them for their daughter’s achievements. Accordingly, the minister of sports also extended support on behalf of the Ministry of Sports to the 16-year-old cricketer. After Jahzara returned to St Kitts and Nevis after the south Africa Tour, Minister Duggins expressed that Jahzara was undoubtedly destined for greatness. He also promised that the Ministry of Sports would continue to provide her with the necessary tools and support along her journey.
