The Director of the department of Sports in Nevis Island, Giovanni Claxton, took to his social media account to share an uplifting post about the former Minister of Sports in The Nevis Island Administration, Eric Evelyn. After the assembly elections held in Nevis on December 12, 2022, Minister Evelyn got re-elected into the assembly. However, after a reshuffle of responsibilities, Minister Evelyn is no longer responsible for the Ministry of Sports.
The Director of the Department of Sports in Nevis, Giovanni Claxton wrote on his social media that their journey working directly together has concluded. Thus, he took this opportunity to express gratitude for (the minister’s) support and belief in what we endeavoured to achieve under the leadership of the Ministry of Sports.
The farewell note, written by the Director of the Sports Department, further noted that Minister Eric Evelyn embraced the new initiatives brought before his tenure. While at the same time, he always gave his opinion and ideas on how the Ministry of Sports can grow existing programs and refine policies.
Director of the Department of Sports Giovanni Claxton further stated in his social media post: While we may not have achieved every single goal we set out to achieve, I’m confident knowing that foundations have been set on which to build.
He further said that There were some difficult times, particularly when covid hit. At the time, they had to put many things on the back burner. Thus they could not get some projects across the line in the desired time.
However, Giovanni Claxton added that there were also many positive moments and accomplishments to be proud of on the flip side. Concluding his post, Director Claxton wished Minister Evelyn all the best as he took on his new mandate.
