The Political Leaders of the ruling Party, St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, have taken to their respective social media to congratulate the winner of the Senior Calypso Monarch, Queen Independent, for her success in the National Carnival. Queen Independent has won the title of Senior Calypso Monarch for the third time.
St Kitts and Nevis National Carnival Committee declared the results of the competition on Friday, December 30, 2022. As per the results, Queen Independent was crowned the Senior Calypso Monarch
King Socrates grabbed the position of the 1st runner-up.
The Senior Calypso Monarch judges gave the position of the 2nd runner-up to Queen Diva.
The judges further declared Queeny G as the 3rd runner-up.
Minister of Creative Economy in the government of St Kitts and Nevis, Samal Duggins has taken to his social media account to congratulate the Flow Senior Calypso Monarch winner for being crowned the Monarch for the 2022-23 tenure. The minister, also responsible for the National Carnival, expressed his delight that women dominated the winner’s list.
He wrote Congratulations to Queen Independent, who took home the top spot. He further stated that he must give credit to the runners-up and all participants who left it all on the stage.
He further said, Calypso is alive and well, and I acknowledge the hard work of the committee, subcommittee, bands and calypsonians who continue to promote the art form.
The Deputy PM of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Geoffrey Hanley, also shared his congratulations through a post that read,
Calypso Kaiso, what an evening well spent. I am so happy I did not have to judge all that amazing talent, as I know it was quite a difficult task.
Congratulations to the winner of the Flow Senior Calypso Monarch, Queen Independent, her runner-ups, King Socrates (1st), Queen Diva (2nd) and Queeny G (3rd) and all the other participants.
Minister Denzil Douglas also congratulated the participants for their success in the competition.
