Latoya Jones, who contested the Local Assembly elections in Nevis from Electoral District 5, St Thomas Parish, has shared a message on her social media pages following the results of the polls.
Latoya Jones was contesting the local elections for the first time in 2022. However, she had to face defeat at the hands of Cleone Stapleton-Simmonds, who secured 712 votes from the constituency. Meanwhile, Latoya Jones had only 508 votes.
The CCM candidate has taken the decision of the people of Electoral District 5 in stride and has shared her gratitude towards the people for their support during her election campaign.
She took to her social media to thank her supporters.
Following the conclusion of the elections in Nevis, Latoya Jones expressed that her first duty was to express her profound thanks and appreciation to everyone who voted for her in this election.
She expressed that she was grateful for the invaluable support that she recieved.
Further, she expressed that being a first-time candidate in the toughest seat for her party, she was very happy with some of the successes achieved by me and my team.
She revealed that the political party managed to secure the highest number of votes (508), ever secured by CCM in the history of local elections in St Thomas Parish since 1992.
Further, she wrote that the work undertaken by her campaign team was awesome. She thanked each of them (her team) for their tremendous efforts.
You have now made St. Thomas a competitive Constituency.
She also congratulated her opponent, Cleone Stapleton-Simmonds, on her victory.
She also extended her congratulations to To her colleagues Spencer Brand, Eric Evelyn and the leader of the Concerned Citizens Movement, Mark Brantley. Congratulations on your victories.
Latoya Jones also sent her best wishes to her friend and colleague Alexis Jeffers. Though he was not successful in the elections on Monday, Jones expressed that his service to St. James is not over.
She made a commitment to the “wonderful” people of St. Thomas. She assured them that she would continue to advocate on their behalf. Further, he confessed that she looks forward to her next campaign.
