The elections for the local assembly in Nevis have finally concluded with the victory of the leader of the Concerned Citizens Movement, Mark Brantley. Brantley contested for the Local Assembly elections of Nevis from Constituency No 2, St John’s Parish.
Brantley was contending for the seat in the Nevis Island Assembly against Nevis Reformation Party candidate Dr Patricia Bartlette and Moral Restoration Movement Candidate Samuel Caines.
The Constituents of Electoral District 2 have re-elected Mark Brantley as their representative. Brantley tasted victory with a total of 1313 votes to his credit. Meanwhile, Dr Patricia Bartlette of the Nevis Reformation Party secured 1166 votes, and Samuel Caines of the Moral Restoration Movement received 17 votes.
Mark Brantley’s victory secured his political party, the Concerned Citizens Movement, the majority they needed. Following the declaration of Brantley’s win from constituency #2, The Concerned Citizens Movement has three seats in the Nevis Island Assembly.
The victory has made Brantley the Premier Elect for this administration term at Nevis Island. This will be his second consequtive term in the role of the premier of Nevis
Following his victory, the Concerned Citizens Movement leader took to his Facebook Account to express his gratitude to the people of Nevis. He thanked them for re-electing him for another term in the office of the Premier.
He wrote on his Facebook account:
Please allow me a moment to express how humbled I am to once again be chosen by the people of Nevis to lead our beloved island. Let me also say how grateful I am that the people of Nevis have once again chosen the Concerned Citizens Movement to manage the affairs of Nevis over the next five years.
The Premier further congratulated all the successful candidates of the election.
From Constituency 1, Spencer Brand won from the Concerned Citizens Movement
From Constituency 2, Mark Brantley won from the Concerned Citizens Movement
From Constituency 3, Eric Evelyn won from the Concerned Citizens Movement
From Constituency 4, The leader of the Nevis Reformation Party, Janice Daniel-Hodge, emerged victorious
From Constituency 5, Cleone Stapleton-Simmonds won from the Nevis Reformation Party.
