Minister of Sports in the Government of St Kitts and Nevis, Samal Duggins, has reached out to his Facebook account to congratulate Jahzara Claxton for her selection in the Women’s under 19 teams of West-Indies. He was also joined by Dr Denzil Douglas, currently the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the SKNLP-led government.
According to him, Jahzara’s selection is historic. In the Facebook post, Minister Duggins wrote:
We commend her and her support cast, inclusive of her family and coaches. One of her coaches is Dilyn Liddie, a Cricket Coach in the Department of Sports.
We are also very proud of the head Coach of the team, St. Kitts and Nevis’ very own Steve Liburd, who continues to provide very commendable guidance.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Denzil Douglas took to his Facebook account to congratulate the St Kittitian on making it into the international team at the age of 16.
Claxton has created an unparalleled career for herself in her own field. She is the first female cricketer from St Kitts and the Leeward Island to be shortlisted for the Under-19 cricket team of West Indies. She has been selected for the Women’s Under 19 Training Camp and trial matches to be played in Trinidad and Tobago
She has been selected for the Woman’s team of West Indies, which is all set to play the T20 World Cup in January of 2023.
Jahzara Claxton will travel to India for a short period of time. Following this, she will travel to South Africa, where the Woman’s T20 World Cup is being held.
Claxton is a dedicated athlete. She has also brought laurels to the country with her phenomenal performance as a soccer player. She has played soccer for the national team of St Kitts and Nevis.
As detailed in the Facebook post of the Minister of Sports, Jahzara Claxton is representing St Kitts and Nevis at the CONCACAF Women’s U20 Championship.
