Dr Terrance Drew, The prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, hosted a meeting with St Kitts and Nevis Reparation Committee members. During the meeting, the Prime Minister and the Reparation Committee members discussed the committee’s mandate.
The Prime Minister discussed the committee’s activities and plans going forward. Dr Terrance Drew took to his Facebook account to share an update regarding the meeting. He shared photographs to provide a glimpse into the meeting’s proceedings.
The Prime Minister believes that the organization seeks to promote, educate and empower on the issue of reparations.
In the Facebook post shared by Dr Terrance Drew, he detailed that the mandate and functions of the organization fall directly in line with the views of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to establish reparation committees in the regions.
Establishing a reparation committee aims to give justice to the region’s indigenous and African descent communities. These communities often suffer as the victims of crimes against humanity in the forms of genocide, slavery, the slave trade and racial apartheid.
St Kitts and Nevis Reparation committee, which was engaged in the session of the meeting, consists of the following members:
- Carla Astaphan, who is the Chairperson

- Ras Iroy Pinney, who is the Vice Chairperson

- Kara Daley, the Committee’s Secretary

- Ras Kalonji, member of the Committee
