The Ministries of sustainable development and constituency empowerment in the government of St Kitts and Nevis, which fall under the leadership of Dr Joyelle Clarke, were engaged in several critical initiatives. The Minister who is responsible for both these ministries shared several images from these initiatives on her social media account.
First, The Department of Constituency Empowerment took its officers on a community sensitization exercise throughout the island. The exercise took place on Tuesday, April 18 2023. The staff is engaged in an activity that is called, community mapping. The Department of Constituency Empowerment arranged this excursion in collaboration with the Planning Unit.
The officers of the Planning Unit of St Kitts and Nevis, Chezon Tuckett and Ayodele DeCosta and expert local historian Leonard Stapleton accompanied the team of the Department of Constituency Empowerment on the expedition.
Further, The Ministry of Sustainable Development in the government of St Kitts and Nevis, under Joyelle Clarke engaged in a clean-up exercise that included pruning of the vegetation. The clean-up exercise also took place on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Independence Square. The Ministry took up the initiative to commemorate “Good Deeds Day, which was celebrated on Sunday April 16.
As a part of the exercise, The staff at the Ministry of Sustainable Development teamed up with the staff of the St Kitts Electricity Company Limited (SKELEC) and Chipeen Volunteer Center. The team thus formed worked towards the beautification of the Over area. More than 100 staff members from all seven (7) Departments within the Ministry of Sustainable Development, as well as other volunteers participated in the activity.
Further, The initiative was supported by senior government officials including the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Sherilita Dore-Tyson and other staff members who were on-site to participate in the cleanup.
Minister Joyelle Clarke shared several images of the events on her social media, sharing that it is important to host regular events of these kinds to promote good deeds.
