Under the leadership of Dr Denzil Douglas, the Ministry of foreign affairs in the government of St Kitts and Nevis is hosting Diplomatic Week from Sunday, April 23, 2023, to Friday, April 28, 2023. The event will serve as an opportunity for diplomats from various countries across the globe to come together under one roof and discuss issues and options of mutual interest to St Kitts and the rest of the world.
The government of St Kitts and Nevis, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are hosting the week-long event under the theme of Driving Change, Advancing the Vision for a sustainable island state.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Denzil Douglas, said he looks forward to the programme. He asserted that several diplomats would attend the Diplomatic Week in Basettere. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the government of St Kitts and Nevis has laid out a schedule for the various events during the Week.
On Sunday, April 23, 2023, Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Diplomatic Week will start with a church service at the Antioch Baptist Church at 9:30 AM. The service will follow with a lunch at the Carambola Beach Club.
Monday, April 24, 2023, will feature a Presentation of Credentials.
All Day. Additionally, Visit to Tertiary Level Institutions SKN Ambassadors 9:00 AM.
Following this, the attending ambassadors will participate in the Lunch hosted by Dr Denzil Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs 12:30 PM. The ambassadors will then Meet the Press – SKN Ambassadors at 3:00 PM. The day will conclude with the Governor General’s Welcome Reception at 7:00 PM.
On Tuesday, April 25, 2023, the day will start with the Opening Ceremony at St. Kitts Marriott Resort at 9:00 AM. Afterwards, The ambassadors will witness, Becoming a Sustainable Island State Presentations at 11:00 AM. On Tuesday, The Ambassadors will attend Lunch hosted by the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, at 1:00 PM.
Finally, the Panel Discussion
Timothy Antoine, Governor of the Central Bank & Dr Hyginus ‘Gene’ Leon, President of the Caribbean Development Bank, will occur at 2:30 PM, and the day’s events will conclude.
On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, The Ambassadors who will attend the Diplomatic Week will be a part of the following events:
- Interface with Premier and Nevis Island Administration
- 9:30 AM
- Lunch hosted by Hyleta Liburd, Deputy Governor-General, at noon
- Tour of Nevis 2:00 PM
- Premier’s Social – 4:30 PM

The final Day of the Diplomatic Week will feature a retreat for the diplomats with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
