St. Kitts Basseterre Lions Club paid a courtesy visit to the Governor General of St. Christopher and Nevis, Dame Marcella Liburd on Friday July 24, 2026. The meeting with the Governor General took place at the Government House, in Basseterre.
The main objective of the meeting was to share and update the Governor General, Liburd regarding the club vision and next month initiatives. The club also shared the work, projects and community service activities so far done by the club under the Lionistic Year calendar.
The club was represented by President Petal Rawlins, who led the meeting. She was accompanied by First Vice President Novelette Benjamin, Second Vice President Diana Williams-Humphrey and Secretary Adora Warner. To acknowledge the Governor General continuous efforts of encouraging and supporting the club they felicitated Dame Liburd with a bouquet of flowers along with sparkling cider
The club mentioned that the courtesy visit provided an opportunity of meaningful discussion and the exchanges of ideas. They also extended gratitude to the Governor General for the warm welcome. The club said, “The visit was warm, productive, and inspiring and the St. Kitts Basseterre Lions Club sincerely thanks Her Excellency for her hospitality, encouragement, and unwavering support”.
Additionally, Dame Marcella Liburd even presented the commemorative tokens to the club representatives as a gesture of appreciation to them to mark their visit and for their hard work.
Notably, the St. Kitts Basseterre Lions Club this month successfully completed a recycling project at the Buckley’s Tent Collection Site on Tuesday July 21, 2026. In the project the members of the club collected approx 2,000 plastic bottles and donated them for recycling. The initiative was undertaken by the Lions Club International’s Global Cause.
The club stated that they are committed to protecting the environment of the St. Kitts through these sustainable initiatives. The club also shared the glimpse of the project online on their official social media.
