The Minister of Sustainable Development, Environment and constituency empowerment, Joyelle Clarke, met with the Ambassador of Cuba, David Rivero Pérez, on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. The meeting between the two individuals was a courtesy call.
During this meeting, the Minister of Sustainable Development and the Ambassador of Cuba to St Kitts and Nevis discuss how the Ministry of Climate Action can work more closely with the Cuban Embassy.
The two institutions hope to partner in education, transformational education, behavioural change for Climate Action and such. Further, the two nations also discuss in detail whether or not Cuba can provide St Kitts and Nevis with support in terms of training and capacity building.

Cuba and St. Kitts and Nevis are both Caribbean nations. In light of this connection, the two countries share interests, concerns and aspirations in various aspects, such as climate change and the reduction of the effects of natural disasters, issues on which, according to the Ambassador, the two countries must continue to work together.
During the courtesy call, the minister of Sustainable Development and Environment, Joyelle Clarke and the Ambassador of Cuba, David Rivero Pérez, indulged in several fruitful discussions regarding the bilateral relationship between the two nations. They discussed their stances on climate change, sustainable development, and renewable energies.
