TDC Group of Companies has paid tribute to Edmund Morton who served the company in the capacity of the Manager and Director of TDC Rentals Limited. Morton passed away earlier in the week at the age of 101.
He was considered a stalwart of the nation as he served the country in the position of Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism. His service to the country has been significant and diligent. Several organisations across the nation including politicians and public service officers.
The TDC group of companies also delivered a statement of tribute in honor of the departed centenarian. Notably, the former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Manager at TDC joined the company in 1978.
He became part of the company as a manager and a director the a unit of the company. Under the leadership of Morton the TDC acquired the Thrifty Car Rental franchise. He also introduced the federation to Hire Purchase operations, which were first of their kind for the twin islands.
The TDC management has shared that he retired from the company in the year 1993 after nearly fifteen years of service to the company. He further continued to serve as a consultant, from 1st March 1993 until his retirement on 31st January 2006,
The officials have shared that they remember Morton for his guidance as a mentor, a coach and a friend. The officials have shared that the people who worked with him consider themselves lucky to have been able to learn and grow with him.
The company has shared that several members of the staff were able to learn from his vast experience, strong work ethic and commitment to customer service excellence. His work with the TDC Group of companies spanned nearly 3 decades and in this duration he helped in growing the company significantly. Up until his passing at the age of 101, he was known to welcome the opportunity to recall stories and experiences that he had with the company.
The TDC group has extended their sincerest condolences on the death of a community steward to the family and friends grieving the loss.
