St Kitts has welcomed more than 1 Million cruise passengers to the country in the 2025-2026 cruise season. This is a major milestone for the cruise sector of the country as the nation has touched the milestone for the first time since the pandemic.
The Tourism Authority of St Kitts has shared that this milestone highlights the growing prominence of the sector. The officials have shared that the milestone highlights that the stakeholders have seen renewed confidence in St. Kitts as a cruise destination.
The officials believe that the milestone has been achieved after years of consistent efforts, over the last few years, the tourism stakeholders have worked to develop and strengthen industry partnerships, enhance the visitor experience, and position the destination for continued growth.
The Minister of Tourism, Marsha Henderson has also called this achievement highly significant. She said the significance of the milestone comes not only from the number of passengers that were welcomed in the 2026 cruise season. The officials have shared that the number highlights the impact that the arrivals have made on the position of the destination.
The Minister of Tourism acknowledged that this is not the first time that St Kitts is welcoming over One Million cruise passengers. However, this number represents the renewed confidence of the tourists in the destination.
The Minister also highlights that the milestone is a result of sustained efforts and collaboration partnership between the St Kitts Tourism Authority, (SKTA), the St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA), the St. Kitts Urban Development Corporation (UDC).
The organisation has shared that beyond this number, the cruise sector of the country has also been generating opportunities for other sectors across the island including transportation, hospitality, retail, agriculture, entertainment.
The tourism sector of St Kitts has been critical in supporting the growth of the various other sectors of the economy. To add to this point, the Minister of Tourism, Marsha Henderson said, “Tourism does not stop at the cruise terminal. It reaches into our communities and into the homes of our people.”
She talked about how the arrival of tourists brings opportunity to small businesses, gives work to taxi operators, restaurant owners, tout guides and more. The Minister has thanked and appreciated the team that has been working diligently to bring growth to the tourism industry of the country.
