The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis Dr Terrance Drew has announced reconnection drives for SKELEC and the Water Services Department. The reconnection drives for both the organisations is aimed towards supporting the households.
Households across the island have been struggling with increased cost of living due to uncertain economic situations. To this end, Dr Drew says that his St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party Administration has been dedicated to supporting the families.
He recalled that as a part of the 40th Anniversary of Independence Reset, the government supported households to reconnect their electricity and water. Dr Drew said that they were able to get several households restore their access to these essential facilities.
The government has come forward with a similar initiative to get households reconnected to electricity and water services. The St Kitts Electricity Company has shared that they have introduced the reconnection initiative in celebration of the organisation’s fifteen year anniversary.
SKELEC has announced that they understand that some households are not able to afford payments of electricity bills due to financial issues. The organisation is thus offering solutions to this problem through customer reconnection promotion.
The officials have shared that they are urging people to come and talk to SKELEC management so that they can come up with an affordable and more suitable payment plan for the households getting reconnected.
The water services department has also urged the households to get reconnected with them in case:
- Households are not receiving their water bill
- Households need to update their contact information with the department
- Households water connection has been revoked due to any reasons or circumstances
- Households have high arrears and they are wondering how their service can be restored.
The Prime Minister has urged the people of the island to take advantage of these initiatives and get themselves reconnected. The Prime Minister also urged the people to honor their commitment to the organisations.
