The Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley, recently took to his social media account to commemorate one year since the death of the former Premier of Nevis, Vance Winkworth Amory. Amory was a highly accomplished individual who served in several critical capacities in the NIA and the wider Nevis.
Expanding upon the accomplishments of the former Premier of Nevis, the incumbent Premier, Mark Brantley, asserted that Vance Winkworth Amory dominated the political scenario of Nevis. He was the founder of the ruling political party of Nevis, the Concerned Citizens Movement and served as the second Premier of Nevis till 2017. Afterwards, he left his post, and Brantley took over his responsibilities as his successor.
Paying tribute to the departed leader, who died in London while getting treatment in a hospital, Premier Mark Brantley wrote that He was our Premier, Senior Minister, and Ambassador. He also represented Nevis island in various sports fields as a track and field athlete, cricketer and footballer.
His service to Nevis island also included his stint as a banker, Head Teacher, and Permanent Secretary. He was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a brother and a friend to many.
Accordingly, Premier Mark Brantley paid tribute to the political leader. He wrote that today we remember him and all the good he did while walking among us. Additionally, He hoped that the departed soul’s family might be comforted by the knowledge that he touched many lives and helped shape a Nation. He shared his favourite image of the leader, in which he can be seen, dancing.
Further, the team of Concerned Citizens Movement led by Premier Mark Brantley came together on April 2, 2023, the first anniversary of Vance Amory’s death, to lay a wreath and say a prayer at the gravesite of the Hon Vance Winkworth Amory as we reflect on his contribution to Nevis and the Federation 1 year after his passing.
The premier hoped that Vance Amory’s soul would continue to rest in eternal peace.
