The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, is visiting Washington DC for the Word Bank Spring Meetings 2023. The Prime Minister accompanies a small delegation of critical government officials, the Prime Minister’s office, and the Ministry of Finance staff. The World Bank Spring meetings are being held over a week, from Monday, April 10, 2023, to Sunday, April 16, 2023.
The Prime Minister took to his social media account to share an update regarding the meeting. In his social media post, the Prime Minister revealed that the Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, Naeemah Hazelle, and the Director of Fiscal Affairs & Policy in the Ministry of Finance in the government of St Kitts and Nevis, Versilie Francis, will be a part of his delegation.
Further, the prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew noted that during his prolonged absence from the spring meetings, Minister of Public Utilities and Infrastructure, Konris Maynard, has been chosen as the Acting Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew asserted that the event being observed in Washington DC, namely World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Spring Meetings, will serve as an opportunity for the administrators of the various central banks across the globe, ministers of finance and development, lawmakers, business executives, members of civil society organizations, and the world-renowned and acclaimed academics to come together.
According to Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew Through these initiatives, the representatives and people of prominence from various countries across the globe discuss global issues. The attendants of the meeting will discuss and debate their opinions on critical world issues, including their outlook on the world economy, their stand and efforts during the fight against poverty, economic development on the global level, and the efficacy of aid.
The week-long event will feature several other sub-events, including Seminars, regional briefings, and press conferences. The World Bank and IMF Spring Meetings will serve as a stage for several different events discussions centring around the global economy, international development, and financial system
