The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Ageing and Disabilities recently started a Seniors Enrichment Programme to benefit St Kitts and Nevis’s aged and vulnerable population. As a part of the government’s initiative to ensure a better and more fulfilling life for the senior people of the country, the ministry arranged a kite flying festival.
The authorities hosted The activity of Kite flying for the senior citizens on Tuesday, April 11. During the festival, a large number of seniors gathered at the historic Black Rocks for a day of fun, excitement and Kite flying. The government of St Kitts and Nevis is committed to caring for the elderly and the vulnerable population of the federation. The Seniors Enrichment Programme also forms a significant part of that mandate.
Junior Minister in the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, ageing and Disabilities, Isalean Philip, was also an important part of the initiative and shared several glimpses of the event on her social media account. She shared that she was happy to see our older persons come out with some children and youth to enjoy the day. She also took the opportunity to thank the local kite makers for supporting the government and the initiative.
Notably, the seniors made most of the kites flown at today’s festival by the youngsters, children and older people over the past week. The senior population of St Kitts and Nevis engaged in kite making during the Seniors’ Day Programme initiative. The seniors day programme was hosted by East Basseterre, St Peter’s and St Paul’s communities.
