Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew met with the Vice President of Nigeria Kashim Shettima during their visit to New York for the 80th General Assembly of the United Nations. During their meeting, which was hosted earlier in the week, served as an opportunity for crucial bilateral exchange between the two leaders.
The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis took to his social media to share some glimpses from the meeting on his social media. He said, in this post, that he was most delighted to have had the opportunity to interact with the Nigerian Vice President.
Since the first quarter of the year 2025, Dr Terrance Drew has been making visible efforts to improve the diplomatic relationship that exists between St Kitts and Nevis and Nigeria. In fact, St Kitts and Nevis was the first nation from the Caribbean to pursue better ties between the Caribbean and the African continent.
During his meeting with the Vice President of Nigeria, PM Terrance Drew highlighted that the people from both the nations are eager to stand beside one another on issues of mutual importance. The leaders pledged to work together and take the two countries towards development with mutual cooperation.
The Prime Minister has also shared that they are looking into furthering their economic relationship and bilateral ties. Notably, the leadership of both the nations have taken several steps in this direction.
Another important step which has been taken in deepening bilateral ties between Nigeria and St Kitts and Nevis is the beginning of Visa Free travel for the citizens of St Kitts and Nevis. The people holding an ordinary passport of St Kitts and Nevis, the official passport of St kitts and Nevis and the diplomatic passport of St Kitts and Nevis can travel to Nigeria without having to wait for Visa Approvals.
With this new development, business and casual tourism from St Kitts and Nevis to Nigeria and vice versa will see a significant growth.
