The Prime Minister had the opportunity to meet with James Ellsmoor, CEO of Island Innovation on Wednesday. During the meeting, they discussed several issues of importance related to better collaboration opportunities. This meeting took place on the sidelines of the Global Sustainable Island Summit 2025 which is being hosted in St Kitts and Nevis.

The Prime Minister met several world leaders who had travelled to St Kitts and Nevis to participate in the Global Sustainable Island Summit 2025. Several high-level officials and international stakeholders who have worked with the government are guests of the two day summit.

Notably, many of these guests, especially the leaders from fellow small island nations are long term partners of the government of St Kitts and Nevis.

During the summit Taiwan, for instance, was represented by the Resident Ambassador Michael Lin.

The nation has been supporting development mandates in St Kitts and Nevis for more than four decades.

The officials have shared that one of the most important topics for discussion during this meeting was the federation’s Geothermal Energy Project. The geothermal project is a massive step for St Kitts and Nevis as they move to become a sustainable island state.

The Prime Minister said that he was proud to have had the opportunity to interact with James Ellsmoor, CEO of Island Innovation. He highlighted that strong political will, when supported by real collaboration, can unlock sustainable change for island communities.

On the same day, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew also met with Dr. Antonio Carmona Báez, President of the University of St. Martin. The Prime Minister met Dr Carmona in order to follow up on earlier discussions in Philipsburg.

During the meeting, the President of the University of St Martin talked about the opportunities for deeper collaboration between USM and CFBC. Dr Terrance Drew and Dr Camona talked about collaborating in the areas of training, research, and cultural exchange.

The Prime Minister said that after these meetings, he is beginning to realize that sustainability is not only about the environment and economy; it is also about people, education, and the bonds that are built across borders.
