Ahead of the local assembly elections in Nevis, the ruling party of the former tenure of Nevis Island Administration, The Concerned Citizens Movement, has laid out a comprehensive manifesto.
The manifesto lays out various plans for future developments on the island. One of the first discussed in the election manifesto was infrastructural development in the administration’s future (2022-27).
For road development, The Concerned Citizens Movement has the following plans:

- Expanding and Improving the road infrastructure across the island, including the ambitious Southern Ring Road, which will connect the entire south coast of Nevis, thus opening a largely untraversed area of Nevis to development.
- Improve the road from Cades Bay to Camps via Westbury Fountain and Mount Lily.
- Completing the Island Main Road Project.
- Complete the road connection from Shaws Road to Fountain.
- Improve Church Ground Road connecting through Braziers and Hamilton.
- Improving the road network in Cotton Ground. Improving secondary roads throughout communities in Nevis.
- Improve the drainage and road network in Ramsbury
Regarding the development of water infrastructure on the island, the Concerned Citizens Movement has plans to:

- Continue our excellent water work, focusing on increasing water availability, storage capacity and distribution across the island.
- Drill new wells as part of the geothermal project.
- Install a desalination plant using cheaper geothermal electricity to convert seawater to potable Water. The government will do this to supply our hotel sector along the coast.
- Improve our testing capabilities to ensure that our water supply meets and exceeds WHO standards.
The political party talks about unlocking the potential of Nevis Island.
In the words of the political party, Economic development and diversification have always been staples of CCM’s mission. In the wake of the worldwide economic crisis unleashed by the COVID-19 pandemic, it has become even more crucial for this to be a priority area. Your CCM-led government commits to the following:

- Continue to attract filmmakers to the island by providing incentives, including tax concessions, work permit waivers, hotel and villa accommodation and developing local expertise and talent to ensure that filmmakers have access to local crew.
- Continue to develop the acting academy to train local actors, creating a pool of available local talent.
- Partner with investors to build a state-of-the-art digital film studio in the Caribbean, the first of its kind.
- Partner with investors to build a music recording studio to attract local, regional and international artists.
The government of CCM recognizes that construction is a critical part of the Nevis economy and its role in the island’s socio-economic development. The Concerned Citizens Movement-led government commits to:

- Extend duty, VAT and related concessions indefinitely to individuals building first-time homes.
- Extend similar privileges to those constructing commercial building spaces
- Extend the waiver of the 10% alien land holding license fee on purchasing existing residential or commercial buildings.
The elections in Nevis will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022.
