St. Kitts and Nevis Fire and Rescue Services SKNFRS has launched the Annual Summer Safety Programme. The opening ceremony of the event took place yesterday morning (July 13, 2026) at the Dr. William Connor Primary School.
Hundred children across St. Kitts attended the opening ceremony of the Annual Summer Safety Programme for 2026. Officials from the SKNFRS shared that the programme is especially designed for the children from 5 to 13 age.
The main aim of the programme is to educate and teach the children about the essential safety knowledge including fire and water safety. Though the programme officials shared the practical skills and solutions with children so they can use the most appropriate measure during any emergency situation.
Additionally, in the camp children will be engaged in interactive sessions which teach them about fire safety, traffic safety, water safety, mental health, crime and violence prevention, disaster preparedness and first aid. The Organization stated that the camp reflects their continuous commitment of empowering and educating the federation’s youth.
The SKNFRS officials mentioned that through the camp they are focusing on fostering a culture of safety, responsibility and preparedness among the next generation. Moreover, the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour party also appreciated the SKNFRS initiative of organizing the Annual Summer Safety Programme in St. Kitts.
The party explained that all the departments in the island along with communities are working together to make sure that the next generation is safe and camp is the live example of it. The party said, “This is what a whole-of-government, whole-of-community approach to keeping our young people safe and empowered looks like in action”. The party also shared the glimpse of the Annual Summer Safety Programme online along with a note on their official social media handle.
Notably, SKNFRS organised the safety programme every year at the St. Kitts to educate the young generations regarding the safety awareness and emergency preparedness.
