The government of St. Kitts and Nevis hosted the inaugural Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis–Monroe University Scholarship Award Ceremony. The event was hosted at the CUNA Caribbean Conference Center on Monday, October 5, 2026.
67 students from across St. Kitts and Nevis have received scholarships as a part of the ceremony on Monday. This number represents the largest cohort of students to receive the scholarship since the beginning of the collaboration between Monroe University and the government of St. Kitts and Nevis.
The officials have shared that the partnership between the university and the government has reached a significant milestone. The officials have shared that the government of St. Kitts and Nevis has been dedicated to expanding access to quality tertiary education in the country.
The administration has also worked with officials to help in equipping them with knowledge, skill and professional competence.
The Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew has constantly spoken about the transformative potential of education. While Dr Drew was not part of the scholarship ceremony, his presence could be felt through his work.
The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of the partnership between the Monroe University and the government of St. Kitts and Nevis. He called it a very meaningful investment in the future of the people.
The Prime Minister believes that opportunities of this nature can help in giving the citizens of the country access to skills, knowledge and a global perspective. With all that at their disposal, the people can contribute meaningfully to national development.
The ceremony on Monday, October 5 saw the largest number of students receiving scholarships from the university. The number is significant as it shows an increased demand for higher education opportunities.
The government’s partnership with Monroe University has been active for several years and has benefited the people tremendously. The university offers programmes at the associate, bachelor’s and master’s levels and allows the students to pursue their education in New York and Saint Lucia as well as online.
The 67 students who have received scholarships will be pursuing different disciplines of study and professional interests.
