Minister of Transport, Public Utilities, Information, Communication, Technology, and Post in St Kitts and Nevis, Konris Maynard, met with members of the St Kitts and Nevis Robotics Team today. The team will be travelling to Geneva, Switzerland, to compete in the ‘First Global Robotics Olympics Challenge’.,
The St Kitts and Nevis Robotics Team is ranked at number one (1) in the Caribbean and nineteenth (19th) in the world and features: Patrina Perreira, Malyka Howell, Yakira Elliott, Lakshya Sharma, Michael Shaw, Brandon Powell, Tau Omowale, and Anthony Li
The Mentors for the 2022 team are Dr Ricardo Neil and Mr Zhavier Shaw.
Konris Maynard, Minister of Information Communication and Technology, met with members of the St Kitts and Nevis Robotics Team on September 2, 2022.
The FIRST Global Robotics Olympics Challenge is scheduled to be held from October 13 to October 16, 2022.
In a post shared by the Minister of ICT on his Facebook account, he stated, “Just about five years ago, the SKN Robotics Team made a splash on the International scene and is a major show stopper in Robotic circles. We small, but we TALLAWAH!”

Every year since its inception, the FIRST Global Challenge has been held in a different city. The United States hosted the inaugural challenge in Washington. The following year, FIRST selected Mexico City to host the 2018 Challenge. This is a diversion from FIRST’s system of championships, where one city hosts for several years at a time and follows the design of the Olympic Games more religiously.
Earlier this week, Minister of Public Utilities toured the office of the Cable Ltd, where he learned about the various operations of the company and interacted with the staff of the place.
