Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley has launched the Voice of Culture awards for the stakeholders who have helped make Culturama Festivities a success. The awards event will be part of the 51st Nevis Culturama Festival celebration and will honor the people who have taken the summer carnival to these heights.

For more than half a century, the Culturama Festival has been an important part of the summer calendar of Nevis. The carnival event was conceptualised as a means to improve tourism footfall in the country during the comparatively slower months.

Several stakeholders have served as crucial support structures into the staging of the Culturama festival. The Nevis Island Administration and the Premier of Nevis have both taken the initiative to honor the people who have made the programme successful.

The Premier of Nevis will be hosting the inaugural Voice of Culture awards ahead of thefifty fires edition of the Culturama Festival. During this event, Premier Mark Brantley will recognize and laud the various artists and ambassadors of the Carnival event.

The Premier has claimed that all the people who have helped in preserving the culture of the island nation will be honored during the awards event. Notably, the nature of their contribution to the Nevisian culture will also be highlighted during the awards event.

A special ceremony has been announced for the purpose of recognizing the people who have worked hard to protect the culture of the island nation through music, art, craft, pageantry, food and more. It is also to be noted that many individuals have made a lasting impact on the cultural identity of Nevis.

The Premier of Nevis and Nevis island Administration has invited the people of the island to nominate deserving people for the Voice of Culture awards. The nomination for the awardees was opened on July 7 and will ramain open for two weeks, ending on July 20.

A panel of judges will then sort through the nominations and decide the people to receive the inaugural Voice of Culture awards
