Charlestown, Nevis: Nevis closes the curtain on the 50th edition of the Nevis Culturama and Homecoming Celebrations on August 6, 2024 with a huge resounding success.
The Minister of Culture in Nevis Island Administration (NIA) and the Deputy Premier, Eric Evelyn express his delight stating that the Nevis Culturama 50 was an enormous success.
Eric Evelyn said that as the Minister of Culture, he is exceedingly pleased and full of pride and he can say without a second thought that Culturama 50 was a massive success from start to finish.
He adds that when looked upon everything, the planning and execution of all the shows and events have been good. And when look at the attendance, this year had bumper crowds at all the shows and the patrons were indeed very pleased with the quality of the events.
Looking at the street activities ranging from the J’ouvert to the Grand Parade and Last Lap, every show was enjoyed by the attendees and their happiness with the arrangements can be observed through their comments on the official Nevis Culturama Page.
“When we evaluate every aspect of the festival, it is indeed a fact that C50 was a huge success,” the Minister of the Culture in NIA stated.
He also extended his gratitude to all those who came out and participated, to all those who came home for homecoming, to all the sponsors who made the amazing organisation possible and to all who made the Culturama the success it was.
Minister Evelyn additionally lauded the Culturama Committee which is led by Chairman Antonio “Abonaty” Liburd.
Mark Brantley, the Premier of Nevis and Minister of Finance and Economic Planning also extended thanks to the residents for their support as well as all the visitors and nationals who returned for Homecoming. He stated that he was grateful for all of them as it made a huge contribution to the success of the festival this year.
“All of us who call Nevis home should be proud of C50. I believe by any measure, Culturama 50 and our homecoming celebrations have been a tremendous success,” the Premier said.
He also thanked the citizens of St Kitts who visited their sister-island to be a part of the festival and the guests who came from all across the region and from around the world who came to enjoy the festival.
The Premier also praised the Law Enforcement Management and the excellent behaviour of all the attendees as there was no incident or accident even though the streets were filled with thousands of people.
Hundreds of people commented and applauded this year’s Culturama and one of the netizens who couldn’t be a part of the festival, said “I miss Nevis and Culturama!!!”
“We have now come to the end of the season and I am truly, truly grateful to all who have made it great.”
