Premier Mark Brantley participated in the 4th Annual Nevis Youth Career Expo (NYCE) that was held on Friday, March 7th, 2025. It was organized with a focus to provide students with a platform to discover what they could do in their future professions, engage with professionals, and learn about various industries.
NYCE this year had 250 students who were eager to learn about the future opportunities. The event attracted representatives from approximately 40 companies, wanting to contribute by bringing more opportunities to the youth of Nevis.
Premier Brantley stated his admiration for this initiative and that he attended the event to show his support as the event was all about youth helping youth, youth guiding youth, and youth empowering youth.
He further added that the youth of Nevis have better answers for their situations and problems and have great ideas to push Nevis forward towards more development and growth.
Premier Mark Brantley also applauded the businesses that responded positively to this initiative and also appreciated the large number of young people who engaged with these business representatives to figure out their future careers.
The 4th Annual Nevis Youth Career Expo was organized by Gabriella Brantley, Founder and Co-Director of the NYCE. Gabriella Brantley is also the daughter of Premier Brantley. The event was made possible by collaboration with Minister of Community Affairs and Social Development in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA), Jahnel Nisbett and her teams.
Gabriella Brantley highlighted the significance of the event and said that the primary goal was to expose soon-to-graduate students to various career fields by letting them interact with professionals in different fields.
She said that the students were engaging with the business representatives at the booths and asked questions about various careers, getting appropriate answers while gaining insights on employment in those fields.
4th Annual Nevis Youth Career Expo
The Expo was a partnership between the public and private sector, with participation from various government institutions, including the Ministry of Education, the Legal Department, Alexandra Hospital, and the Ministry of Tourism.
Some career fields represented at the Expo were Banking and Finance, Beauty and Cosmetology, Business and Entrepreneurship, Fashion and Design, Media, Sports, Telecommunication, Construction and Engineering, Insurance, and Information Technology.
