St Kitts and Nevis Honours 11 Nationals with ‘Companion of the Star of Merit’.

St Kitts and Nevis: The Government of St Kitts and Nevis has honoured eleven (11) deserving nationals from across the nation with the Companion of the Star of Merit during an Investiture Ceremony.

The honouring ceremony was held at the Government House on Tuesday, November 27, 2024 in which the selected citizens were awarded for their long and meritorious service to St Kitts and Nevis.

The list of awardees that were acknowledged during the ceremony is:

  • Conrad Kelly – rewarded for service in Agriculture
  • David Huggins – rewarded for service in Business Entrepreneurship
  • Desmond Hobson Tyson Sr – rewarded for Community Service and Activism
  • Edrice Lewis-Viechweg – rewarded for service in Education (Designer of National Flag)
  • Elsie Liburd-Brandy – rewarded for service in Education
  • Hanzel Banners – rewarded for service in Banking and Community Development
  • Oliver Spencer – rewarded for service in Fishing Industry
  • Orville ‘Sailor’ Thompson – rewarded for service in Sports
  • Pearletta Lanns – rewarded for service in Law Enforcement
  • Rosalyn Hazelle – rewarded for Women Empowerment
  • Rupert Herbert – rewarded for Public Service and Education

Significantly, the awards were presented by the Governor General Dame Marcella Liburd for their loyal and devoted service to the island nation.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Denzil Douglas shared the glimpses and highlights of the ceremony on his official social media and extended heartfelt congratulations to all the recipients.

The ceremony also saw the attendance of the Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew and his wife, Diani Jimesha Prince Drew and the Minister of Education, Dr Geoffrey Hanley. The families and friends of the awardees were also present at the ceremony.
