St Kitts and Nevis: Minister of Foreign Affairs- Dr Denzil Douglas held a discussion with Chandrajit Banerjee DG, CII in New Delhi. He talked about economic cooperation and ways of enhancing bilateral ties.
The meeting featured discussion on diverse range of topics and areas where the collaboration could be enhanced between St Kitts and Nevis and India. Minister Douglas shed light on the significance of green energy and sustainable practices of the twin-island. He also talked about their agenda of becoming the first-ever sustainable island state.
Both the leaders have decided the mutual cooperation in energy and economic diversification so that the new opportunities could be made for the local communities. The solar energy is also discussed during the meeting where the topics of the climate change, carbon footprints and other resilient approaches were put in focus.
The capacity building strategies were also laid down during the discussion as the leaders shed light on the roles of both the countries in the development approach. Minister Douglas expressed pleasure and stated that capacity building is necessary to enhance both the countries.
As St Kitts and Nevis is the tourism island in the Caribbean, India has talked about the ways and strategies to foster their connection with St Kitts and Nevis on the tourism front. Minister Douglas added that the collaboration will further be enhanced to increase the visitor arrivals in both the countries.
Minister Douglas arrived in India on Saturday for his first-ever Ministerial tour and participated in a series of event. Firstly, he held bilaterial talks with the Sports Minister of India- Mansukh Mandaviya and emphasized the discussion about the increment in investment in the sports sector.
The MoU was also signed between the leaders to forge practices for sports tourism so that athletes could be given opportunities.
The agriculture and food security talks were become the key topics of the discussion between Minister Douglas and MEA of India- Dr S Jaishankar. They have exchanged dialogues about medical education and assistance for the local products so that food security could be enhanced in both the countries.
Business and trade were also part of the discussion in the meeting of Dr Denzil Douglas with Union Minister JP Nadda in Delhi.
Dr Douglas will again come in talks with several other leaders in India and forged their bilaterial ties with each other. The MoU between Foreign Minister and Indian MEA have also signified the work and the strategies for the collaboration and cooperation on different sectors.
