The 4th edition of Dr Geoffrey Hanley’s Classic Red Gala and Community Start Awards took place at the Immaculate Conception Catholic School Auditorium. He transformed the auditorium into a place of glamour, recognition and heartfelt appreciation for twelve eminent individuals who shaped the development of the country.

The diverse people who came together for the celebration included distinguished guests from various walks of life and members of the diplomatic corps. The palpable anticipation surrounding the event resulted in a sold-out venue, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that set the stage for an evening to remember.

Distinguished guests, including the Governor General, Dame Marcella Liburd, GCMG, JP; Cabinet Secretary, Dr Marcus Natta; and Ambassadors, Kenneth “Kenny” Douglas and Leon Natta-Nelson

The awards ceremony highlighted exceptional contributors in various fields in sincere recognition of their commitment to the East Basseterre constituency and the Commonwealth at large:

The first two awards were presented to the educational sector, and the recipients were 

  •  Gwendlyn Natta
  • Dr Sharon Esdaile

In Broadcasting field, Vere Galloway and Keith Lake were honoured for their contribution to the entertainment industry. 

Volunteerism awards were given to Samuel Tucket

and Cristina Altagracia Jimenes for volunteering in the  Spanish Community

The sports awards were given to Vanessa Isles under the Netball category, and Dr Sophia Lawrence received an award under the music category. 

 Dennis Flemming received an award in the fishing sector.  

Entrepreneurship 

Sausp Richards was honoured with an entrepreneurship award under the Youth in Business Professional Car Services.

In the caring field , Tisharie Fyfield was honoured for her contribution to home care and Iotha Benjamin was honoured for her remarkable contribution to elderly care.

The gala excessed beyond the limit it was not only an evening of recognition but also featured enchanting music by the J’nysis Band and a soul-stirring performance of the Lord’s Prayer by soloist Mrs. Majester Seales.
