The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, who is the parliamentary representative of Constituency 8, recently hosted the third edition of the Annual Gala Awards and Dinner night for the people of Constituency Number 8. The main theme of the event was New Beginnings, connecting our people.
The Prime Minister announced that the gala served as an opportunity for the constituency to honour various noteworthy people in their communities. Several people of prominence, including Veronica Davis. Win FM, Eramus Williams received recognition from the authorities for their contribution to the community.
The event took place in the Royal St Kitts Hotel in Fidget Bay. Several prominent members of the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, who serve as comrades to PM Dr Drew, were also in attendance. Dr Terrance Drew welcomed the Governor General of St Kitts and Nevis, Marcella Liburd to his Annual Gala, Dinner and Awards night. Other attendants of the ceremony included:
- Deputy Prime Minister, Dr Geoffrey Hanley and his wife,
- The Minister of Public Utilities, et al Konris Maynard
- Parliamentary representative of Constituency 2, Marsha Henderson
- Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs in the government of St Kitts and Nevis, Attorney General Garth Wilkins and his special guest, his mother
- Ambassador of the Republic of China Taiwan, Ambassador Michael Lin
- Ambassador Cedric Liburd
Several other prominent St Kitts and Nevis government members and the international community also attended the event.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew’s Gala was packed with activity. During the event, The keynote speaker of the event, Willa Margret Rose Liburd, shared her thoughts on the theme of the event, New Beginnings, connecting our People. Willa Liburd made several critical observations about the theme of the evening. She spoke in depth about the people’s history, among several other significant topics.
As per the Prime Minister, Dr Terrance Drew, the keynote speaker’s remarks caused him to reflect. He added that he deliberated with the minister of education in this regard. Dr Drew announced that the people will see the reflection of those deliberations in September 2023. The Prime Minister stated that the Minister of Education will work towards adding the history of the people of St kitts and Nevis to the children’s curriculum.
According to him, this will serve as a significant development in the country’s education curriculum. The keynote speaker had also urged that financial literacy should become a part of the educational curriculum. Prime Minister Drew assured that her recommendation will also make it to the curriculum of St Kitts and Nevis education.
Dr Terrance Drew’s third annual gala, awards night and dinner was also the platform for the official launch of the eight Miss Labour Queen Pageant contenders. The contenders from all the constituencies of St Kitts made an appearance at the Prime Minister’s Gala.
