Nevis Historical and conservation society of Nevs is gearing up to commemorate Earth Day 2023 with a Clean Up Drive. The Nevis Historical and Conservation Society (NHCS) team has been carrying out this initiative under the leadership of Miriam Knorr for two decades.
Miriam Knorr is a stalwart member of the Nevis Historical and Conservation Society. She has spearheaded the NHCS’s Earth Day ‘Clean Island Sweep’ every year since 2003. This year, the team intends to continue the initiative with a grant from Ocean Conservancy’s TeamSeas programme. The Nevis Historical and Conservation Society took to its social media account to share an update regarding the enterprise.
The Facebook account featured the details and information on the event. According to the NHCS, they are also expanding their annual white goods sweep to vehicle wrecks. They will get support from the Nevis Solid Waste Management Authority of Nevis for this.
Accordingly, the Nevis Historical and Conservation Society team has taken to their social media account to share that On the morning of April 22 2023, two teams in two pickups will scour the Island Main Road and Westbury Fountain Mt Lily Road, collecting white goods and wrecks. April 22, 2023, is celebrated across the globe as Earth Day.
The NHCS is celebrating the occasion with the cleanup initiative, wherein they will dispose of all the wreckage and waste from home to home and make the island clean.
The NHCS informed the people that white goods (fridges, cookers, microwaves, fans…) could be placed on the main road for collection from 7:00 AM. The institution invited the people to call the authorities if they have a wreck they would like to have removed. Additionally, the team has asked people to have a pickup and a strong pair of hands (and heavy gloves) and would like to join the effort to call the Nevis Historical Conservation Society authorities.
They asserted that Together the people of the island could keep #NevisNice #NevisNaturally.
