The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, has taken to his social media account to congratulate all the representatives of St Kitts and Nevis who travelled to the Bahamas for the games. A team of 22 athletes, a head coach, and a manager travelled to the three-day athletic track and field contest on April 6, 2023.

CARIFTA Games were hosted from April 7 to April 10. Dr Terrance Drew wrote on his social media that Our athletes are doing an excellent job, and I am indeed proud of all of you. You are representing your country well.

Several social media users also extended their greetings and congratulations to the athletes for their performance at the three days contest. They encouraged the athletes to touch further heights in their athletic careers.

Here, Dr Drew also praised Jahzara Claxton for her praiseworthy performance at the 50th Edition of the CAIFTA Games. Notably, the athlete was disqualified from her final event, Women’s 800m Heptathlon, thus revoking the silver medal she had secured. The Prime Minister encouraged her despite her loss.

Dr Terrance Drew Drew took to his social media account to share his appreciation for her performance in the rest of the competition. He also took the opportunity to assure the teenage athlete that St Kitts and Nevis is still supporting her and standing firmly by her side through her achievements and losses. He asserted that Jahzara Claxton has made her nation proud through her performance at the CARIFTA Games.

Claxton is one of the most renowned athletes in St Kitts and Nevis who has represented the federation successfully in several sporting events in the region and internationally.

Notably, Jahzara travelled to the Bahamas to represent the country at the fiftieth staging of the CARIFTA Games. The athlete is one of the top scorers among the representatives of St Kitts and Nevis. PM Terrance Drew called her disqualification from the Women’s 800m Heptathlon unfortunate. However, simultaneously, he asserted that (St Kitts and Nevis) love her and are proud of her for her performance.
