St Kitts and Nevis: The newly appointed head of the Citizenship by Investment Unit of St Kitts and Nevis, Michael M Martin, will announce the new guidelines for the Citizenship by Investment Programme on December 27, 2022.
Several significant changes in guidelines are anticipated. Michael Martin asserted that they have decided to implement the new guidelines after a comprehensive review of the current CBI Programme and Regulations.
Under the leadership of Michael Martin, CIU worked to strengthen the CBI Programme of St Kitts and Nevis and has prioritized reform of the programme intending to further enhance the integrity and competitiveness of the programme.
Citizenship by Investment Programme is one of the main pillars of the economic development of St Kitts and Nevis, and over the years, it has generated substantial benefits for the people of the nation.
The Sustainable Growth Fund and Real Estate Investment Option could witness significant changes with a view to attracting investors and High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) around the world.
The guidelines also consist of strategic goals for the rebranding and refocusing of the CBI Programme of St Kitts and Nevis. The regulations will also assist in maintaining the status of the pioneer of Citizenship by Investment Industry.
Moreover, the concrete steps to update and enhance certain aspects of the CBI Programme of St Kitts and Nevis to ensure that it continues to meet the needs of intelligent investment-minded persons looking for an enriching base for their families and businesses.
Besides this, the new changes would also enhance the programme so that it continues to be the benchmark of the global investor immigration industry. Head of CIU- Michael Martin also stressed that a situational analysis will be conducted to assess the status of the Unit and will determine the best way forward to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
As per the reports, CIU, under the leadership of Michael Martin, could take some bold and innovative decisions needed to strengthen the legislative and administrative structures of the programme. There could be changes in certain aspects of the due diligence procedures so that only investors of the highest calibre are accepted.
Moreover, CIU could engage local and international stakeholders to uplift the structure of the CBI Programme of St Kitts and Nevis.
Earlier, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew, during an event hosted by the Embassy of St Kitts and Nevis in Dubai, also outlined three fundamental principles of the CBI Programme. He cited that these principles have guided their decision-making with respect to the evolved version of the Citizenship by Investment Programme.
The three principles will be Sustainability, Good Governance and Pragmatism.
PM Drew stressed the significance of international business hubs, emphasising that “Our proximity to international business hubs allows access to a basket of regional blocs that can help them expand their mobility and do business no matter where they are in the world. This expansion also helps them hedge against declining demographics. We have created a name for ourselves as a financial nexus with an attractive citizenship programme underpinned by a sound legal framework and robust multi-layered due diligence.
