The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, delivered his address on the occasion of Christmas and extended his greetings to the people of the twin-island federation. He directed his address at the residents, citizens and diaspora of St Kitts and Nevis.
He confessed that Christmas is his favourite time of the year due to the jovial spirit that consumes us. He believes that the festive spirit we enjoy and the love that fills our hearts makes Christmas time more special to people.
He expressed that they had a lot to be thankful for in the festive season, including the gift of life, the gift of family and good friends, the gift of health, the gift of a new day, and much more. At the same time, he recognized that above everything, we have to be thankful to the gift of Jesus Christ.
Following this, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew alluded to the disagreement over assigning a fixed date of birth to the son of god (jesus christ) and said that the dates have been debated for centuries.
Further, the Prime Minister Terrance Drew mentioned that he was aware that many individuals in St Kitts and Nevis did not celebrate Christmas, and indulged in different religious festivities such as Hanukkah. Further, he remains mindful of those who do not celebrate religious holidays.
However, he addressed that, despite the differences, we all have one thing in common: “the extra special feeling of togetherness, love, generosity and thankfulness.”
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew stated that every year, St Kitts and Nevis looks forward to relatives returning home to visit, company dinners during the season, Treating ourself to some well-needed vacation and celebrating the Carnivals.”
Dr Drew believes that everyonne has these things, and so much more in common, It is these things that unite us as a people; thus, as we sit on the verge of a new year, he expressed his sincere wish that they exhibit the spirit. Not only in December but also that we share that spirit throughout the year.”
