Tropical Storm Tammy: PM Terrance Drew announces schools closure

Dr Terrance Drew,  the prime minister of St Kitts and Nevis has announced urgent closure of schools and other government offices in the federation ahead of the projected arrival of the tropical storm Tammy. The island of St Kitts and Nevis is expected to be affected by the tropical storm for the next twenty four hours or more. 

In order to protect the people of St Kitts and Nevis, the administration has shared some significant precautionary measures that the people must take. The administration is looking out for the welfare of the people of the country. 

The prime minister shared the update of the urgent closure of schools and other government offices as Tropical Storm Tammy. The prime minister announced that the offices in the country will be operational only till mid-day. The offices of the federation will operate till 12 PM on October 20, 2023. 

The government has additionally directed the offices in the private sector to adjust their working hours in accordance with the directive of the government. The government is dedicated to the protection of the people within the nation. In accordance wjth the commitment, the Prime Minister returned from his trip to Ottawa for the inaugural Canada-CARICOM summit. 

The summit, which was originally scheduled to run from October 17 to October 19, 2023 would see leaders from across the region interact with the prime minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau. 

However, as the tropical storm Tammy approached, many political leaders chose to return to their countries to support their people and take over the situation. 

The tropical storm is expected to affect several islands in the Lesser Antilles. The meteorological department in St Kitts and Nevis and other regions have been monitoring the movement of the TS Tammy. 

The authorities have, accordingly urged the people to ensure that they keep in touch with the government authorities and the meteorological department.
