The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, hosted two global ambassadors visiting the country during a brief meeting on Monday, April 24, 2023. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the government of St Kitts and Nevis has started the 2023 edition of the country’s diplomatic week. Several ambassadors and international representatives from across the globe marked their attendance at the event.
The meeting took place in the office of the Prime Minister, where he hosted both international representatives. In his first meeting, Prime Minister Dr Drew met and held bilateral talks with the Ambassador of Switzerland to St Kitts and Nevis, Rita Hämmerli-Weschke. The Ambassador of Switzerland to St Kitts and Nevis, Hämmerli-Weschke, was accompanied by the Honorary Consul General of Switzerland, Ernest Amory.
After concluding the first meeting, with the representatives of Switzerland to St Kitts and Nevis, the prime minister, Dr Terrance Drew, received the Ambassador of the Republic of Peru accredited to St. Kitts and Nevis, María Cecilia Ross Ponce de León. Both ambassadors are in St. Kitts and Nevis to participate in the 2023 Diplomatic Week of activities.
Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew, Adelcia Connor-Ferlance and Orin Roberts, Foreign Service Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, were present for both meetings. During the meeting, Prime Minister Dr Drew welcomed both the ministers and expressed his gratitude to them for being a part of the Diplomatic Week of St Kitts and Nevis.
The weeklong activities commenced with the Church Service at the Antioch Baptist Church on Sunday, April 23, 2023. The church service started at 9:30 AM and featured several St Kitts and Nevis Government members including Dr Terrance Drew. Many Ambassadors also attended the church service hosted to commemorate the weekly activities.
Following the church service, the various ambassadors, diplomats and honorary consulates presented their credentials to the Ministry of foreign affairs. The week-long event of the diplomatic week will serve as an opportunity for the international community to come closer together and forge better international ties and relationships with one another.
