Dr Terrance Drew, the Prime minister of St Kitts and Nevis, delivered his inaugural New Year’s day speech in the capacity of the Prime Minister. While extending his greetings to the people of St Kitts and Nevis, he also thanked them for keeping their faith in his Government and choosing them to develop the nation. Dr Drew’s New Year’s address revolved around the themes of hope, revolutionary changes and inspiring advances for the betterment of the country.
First, talking about hope, the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis stated that hope is necessary for individuals to better their lives. Dr Drew believes that hope helps certain individuals to find the will to make some difficult situations more bearable. Additionally, it also allows better their lives in the long run. He reasoned that this is because hope for a better life inspires individuals to achieve that life.
Dr Terrance Drew further noted that Whether or not we realize it, every life includes hope. Everyone has dreams and aspirations, which are fundamental to being human. In line with the observation, he urged the people of St Kitts and Nevis to remain hopeful this New Year 2023.
Following this, he thanked the people of St Kitts and Nevis for trusting him and his fellow cabinet members for fulfilling the promises that his administration has made towards the nation’s development. He thanked them for remaining patient in the face of uncertainty.
Prime Minister Terrance Drew believes that Trust and the capacity for cooperation and consensus-building are critical in good governance. He added that people believe in their Government’s ability to work for our country’s security, well-being, and future. He further stated that the Government values the people’s faith in their administration.
In his address, Dr Terrance Drew assured the people that the Government is committed to ensuring the nation’s development. He added that St Kitts and Nevis is heading towards a recovery phase while transitioning to being a post-pandemic, sustainable island.
Dr Drew pledged on behalf of himself and his political party to make efforts towards uplifting the standard of living for all the residents and citizens of St Kitts and Nevis. He specified that these efforts will be based on seven foundational pillars:
- Food Security
- Creative Economy
- Green Energy Transition
- Economic Diversification
- Sustainable Industries
- Social Protection
- COVID-19 Recovery
Further, the Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew stated that he intends to pursue new initiatives throughout the upcoming year, which will help ensure the nation’s sustainable growth. He said that he was confident in the ability of the nationals of St Kitts and Nevis to work hard and dedicate themselves to the cause of national development.
