Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew has addressed the rumours regarding travel restrictions for St Kitts and Nevis residents to United States. The Prime Minister informed the people that they have not received formal communication from the United States.
Reports doing rounds on media platforms suggest that St Kitts and Nevis is among more than 30 nations which are allegedly facing possible travel restrictions or bans. PM Drew acknowledged the reports while asserting that they have not received any formal communication about the same.
Dr Drew informed the people that when the reports reached them, his administration took all the diplomatic routes to get more information. The administration of St Kitts and Nevis reached out to the staff of the various embassies and offices of the United States of America.
PM Drew acknowledged that it is true that the alleged list is a cause of concern but all the e embassies have not been speaking to the national offices regarding this.
According to the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, his officers have been waiting for a word on the travel restrictions. The diplomatic route that Dr Terrance Drew took includes the embassy of United States of America in Barbados.
Meanwhile he informed the people of the country about the information that was available to him. The embassy af Barbados also came up empty when asked about the lost as PM Drew said they had also not recieved any official word on the list.
The Prime Minister promised the people of his nation that he will continue to keep them updated about the alleged restrictions. When the office will know more on the lists, he will inform the people.
Meanwhile, PM Terrance Drew also took the opportunity to reaffirm that United States has a good relationship with St Kitts and Nevis. Several diaspora of St Kitts and Nevis are responsible for making several advancements for the nation.
PM Terrance Drew said that this has been circulating and remains cause for concern for the nation. However the US Department of State has not reached out to the government of St Kitts and Nevis personally in order to make any formal announcements.
The office of the Prime Minister has been dealing with this proactively and trying to find a solution working with the OAS and other partners.
