The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, joined the Minister of Environment and Climate Action, Dr Joyelle Clarke, and Resident Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to St Kitts and Nevis, Michael C H Lin, for the launch of the plastic recycling bin programme at the Deane Glasford Primary School in St Peter’s. St Peters comes under the Parliamentary constituency of the Prime Minister.
Dr Terrance Drew was present at the event as the parliamentary representative of the community, and he expressed his excitement at the new development in his constituency. He took to his social media to share the update. The Ministry of Environment held the launch event of the plastic recycling bin programme at the premises of Deane Glasford Primary School on Monday, February 27, 2023. This programme falls under the wider “Solid Waste Management and Recycling Project”.
With the launch programme, Dean Glasford Primary is now the sixth primary school where plastic recycling bins are installed. The Ministry of Environment, under the leadership of Dr Joyelle Clarke, has started the “Solid Waste Management and Recycling Project” in St Kitts to make the island’s people aware of the significance of recycling for the better managing climate crisis.
The ministry of environment has been working tirelessly for the last few weeks to install plastic recycle bins at the different schools across the federation. Various leaders, parliamentary representatives and SKNLP politicians, Including PM Dr Terrance Drew marked their presence at the various launch events. Minister Konris Maynard recently dedicated time to visit the Bronte Welsh Primary School. At the launch, he interacted with the children about recycling.
Throughout the project till present, the Ministry of Environment, in collaboration with the Taiwan Technical Mission, has installed plastic recycle bins at St. Pauls Primary, Cayon, Sandy Point, Edgar T Morris and Bronte Welsh Primary Schools. The sixth school to be added to this initiative. The Prime Minister, Dr Terrance Drew attended the launch event at Deane Glasford Primary School.
