St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party celebrates 93 years of commitment with church service

St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party celebrated its 93rd anniversary with a church service at The Good News Baptist Church in Lime Kiln, St Kitts, on Sunday, January 26, 2025. This celebration is a testament of the party’s legacy and dedication to continuously work for the well-being of the people of the twin island nation.

The church service was attended by several members of the party, including Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew and his wife Diani Jimesha Prince-Drew, Education Minister Dr Geoffrey Hanley and wife Adaeze Hanley, Minister of Agriculture Samal Duggins and wife Ermelin Sebastian – Duggins, as well as the locals of St Kitts and Nevis.

PM Drew expresses gratitude

During the ceremony, Prime Minister Drew appreciated Pastor Richards and the church for their prayers and blessings. He also thanked Minister Konris G M Maynard and members of Constituency for hosting such a beautiful event which made the occasion even better.


Taking to Facebook, PM Drew shared some glimpses from the celebration and noted that it was a meaningful time that they shared with the members of the party and the congregation. PM Drew also mentioned that the party’s leadership and the workers will continue to work under the theme ‘For the good that we can do.’

Similarly, Education Minister Dr Geoffrey Hanley also expressed delight in being part of the party’s celebration and promised to continue working for the people of the twin island nation with utmost dedication.

St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party

Founded in 1932, it is considered the oldest political party in the entire English – speaking Caribbean.

In 1942 it got its first president, Thomas Manchester which was followed by Joseph Mathew Sebastian between 1942 and 1944.

Lee Llewellyn Moore was the leader of the party from 1979 to 1989, after whom Dr Denzil Douglas became the fifth National Political leader.

The party has made several contributions to St Kitts and Nevis, including enabling land ownership for ordinary people, introducing comprehensive secondary education, universal healthcare, social security, housing revolution, and transitioning the economy from sugar-based to diverse.
