St. Kitts and Nevis Customs and Excise Department have apprehended the person responsible for bringing the illegal contraband into the country on the second day of the St Kitts Music Festival. St Christopher and Nevis Police Force shared the update after arresting the said culprit on June 27. The officials of the police force have identified the culprit as Bernard Esdaille
The culprit is the resident of Main Street, St. Paul’s. The culprit was charged with “False Declaration, Concealment of Restricted Goods to wit Cannabis,” and “Importation of Restricted Goods to wit Cannabis.” The contrabands reached the shores of St Kitts through the Robert L Bradshaw International Airport.
The official reports from the social media of St Christopher and Nevis Police Force suggest that the offence in question was originally committed on June 23, 2023. The reports suggest that the authorities were involved in a routine Customs check of imported cargo.
The customs check by St Kitts and Nevis Customs and Excise Department revealed thirty-seven (37) small packages of vegetable material concealed in three (3) milkshake containers in a parcel. Further, it is to be noted that the parcel was addressed to Esdaille. The St. Kitts and Nevis Customs and Excise Department took the contraband for a thorough Forensic analysis.
Later, the forensics confirmed that the vegetable material was Cannabis. The team of the St Kitts and Nevis Police have been working diligently to contain the illegal activities within the federation. Accordingly, they extended their appreciation to the St. Kitts and Nevis Customs and Excise Department for taking the necessary steps to stop the illegal imports of goods in the federation.
The victim will face the court of law shortly for his crime and will be given his sentence for his charges. The team the police force and the St. Kitts and Nevis Customs and Excise Department are receiving significant praise for their actions in this regard.
