Sharon Rattan trained Sugar Mas 52 Pageant ambassadors at the Sugar Mas Queens Dinner, preparing them for the Miss St Kitts and Nevis Queens Pageant on December 28, 2023.

Sharon Rattan emphasizes the importance of etiquette in fostering confidence, building positive connections, and representing the community with grace.

She professionally taught contestants about showcasing their community’s positive influence and etiquette, emphasizing the importance of building positive connections and feeling proud to showcase their achievements.

Rattan, who is a Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Community Development, Culture, and Gender Affairs, has a diverse background as an educator, performing artist, and practitioner in the creative and cultural industry. Her experience has taught her leadership skills and equipped her for future roles. She earned a B.Ed Honours from the University of the West Indies.

The St Kitts and Nevis National Carnival thanked Rattan for teaching the girls how to handle napkins, spoons, and knives, sit, stand, and walk gracefully.

Rattan is a public servant with extensive knowledge of St. Kitts and Nevis’ social, economic, political, and cultural contexts. She has a passion for people’s development and creativity.

Rattan began her teaching career in 1986, teaching History, Geography, and Civics at Sandy Point High School and later at Basseterre Junior High School, Cayon High School, and Basseterre High School.

Rattan is an accomplished dancer with extensive experience and has developed empathy and self-confidence through her teaching and volunteer work. She has led the development of dance in various communities, including pageants, churches, and the National Carnival Committee.

Her passion for teaching and volunteering has allowed her to lead and uplift others, making her a valuable asset to any organization.

Rattan chaired the Junior Carnival and Talented Teen Pageant from 1996 to 2000, serving on the Performing Arts Committee during the successful CARIFESTA festival. From 2000, she served on the calypso committee and became a carnival mas’ band leader, advocating for the Olympic Committee.
