The St Kitts and Nevis Police Force has started their community policing initiative to benefit the country’s community. The Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force has shared an update on their social media account about the community policing initiative.
As per the update shared by the team of the RSCNPF, the officers at the Charlestown Police Station led the first of two information sessions on Road Safety, the team hosted the initiative earlier this week on August 17th, at the Nevis Public Library’s 33rd Annual Summer Camp.
As per the update shared by the team of the Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force, the 2023 edition of the summer camp is held under the theme “Our Country, Our People, Our Future”. Meanwhile, the sub-theme of the event was “Life Enrichment through Skills.”
The official social media account of the National Police Force also shared some images from the community policing initiative. The police force is organizing regular community initiatives to make the country’s youth a part of community policing.
After the recent upsurge in violent crime in the country, the police force has redoubled their efforts to maintain peace in the federation. The recent information sessions on Road Safety were also a part of these initiatives. They are designed to inform and educate people about road safety.
The initiatives are designed to decrease the intensity of road accidents in the federation. Corporal Shauna Pemberton and Constable Etroy Jeffers spoke to the youngsters during the information sessions on Road Safety. The officers taught them different road safety methods.
These safety measures include:
The correct way to use a pedestrian crossing,
The proper way to wear a seatbelt in a vehicle.
The officers also taught the children about the correct safety gear for bicycle riding and the requisite fines for breaking these laws.
The Police force claimed in their social media update that the children and the officers involved in the effort were elated and thoroughly enjoyed the interactive session.
