The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew has taken to his social media account to pay tribute to one of the pioneers of secondary education on the island, William Dore, after his death. Dr Terrance Drew, the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis held William Dore in the highest regard in his tribute message. He was born on July 7, 1925, and according to the account shared by Dr Drew, was one of the main leading forces in the evolution of education in St Kitts and Nevis.
Dore played an incredibly significant role in the development of the education sector in St Kitts and Nevis. In line with this, Prime Minister Drew observed that There was a time when there was no secondary education in St Kitts and Nevis. At the time, William Dore helped introduce the College of Preceptors Examination.
Following this, he convinced the government of the twin and got the government to spearhead the initiative. Dr Terrance Drew explained that the history of the College of Preceptors dates back to 1846. It is the oldest surviving teaching association in the United Kingdom. At the time of its introduction in St Kitts and Nevis, distinction from the College of Preceptors was almost equivalent to a GCE, O’level pass.
Accordingly, the Prime Minister took the opportunity to applaud the initiative taken by the now-deceased William Dore. He spoke on behalf of his government and the twin-island federation while he praised the tremendous contribution of Dore in the field of education in the federation.
Dr Terrance Drew wished for the soul of William Dore to find peace in extending his condolences to the family of the national pioneer. Meanwhile, several other citizens of St Kitts and Nevis also paid tribute to William Dore and extended condolences to his family.
