The prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, has taken the opportunity to address the increased crime situation in the country. St Kitts and Nevis recently witnessed a double homicide on Rectory Road in Dorset St Kitts. The country’s Prime Minister, also responsible for the Ministry of social security and National Security, has shared his utmost condolences with the families of the deceased.
The double homicide occurred on Monday, June 5, 2023, at 11:15 Am. The incident has brought the total tally of homicide incidents to 14. The number has surpassed 2022’s numbers. The Prime Minister acknowledges that this is a worrying precedent. Accordingly, the government leader of St Kitts and Nevis has assured the country’s people that they are committed to rectifying the issues.
The Prime Minister and his government are committed to ensuring that law and order in the country can be maintained. They are working diligently to ensure that the population of St Kitts and Nevis can remain safe and secure. Dr Terrance Drew believes that Crime in the country is a mental health concern. Accordingly, he has designated the National Security Taskforce to initiate the rollout of a new initiative.
Under this initiative, the task force and the law enforcement agencies of St Kitts and Nevis can look at Crime and violence from the public health perspective. The Prime Minister, Minister of National Security et al., Dr Terrance Drew, will head the task force as the chairman. Further, several members of the various organs of the government, including the Ministry of National Security, the Ministry of Social Development and the Prime Minister’s Office, will form a part of the task force.
All the task force members are highly qualified and best suited for their responsibilities. They are working towards ensuring the reduction of Crime in the country. The members of the task force are highly committed to their cause. Dr Terrance Drew and the other members of the taskforce are currently working together to develop a comprehensive and scientifically proven plan of action to implement and sustain a culture of non violence in the country
