The water department of St Kitts has announced a disruption in the water flow in the upper monkey hill community. This community is a part of the Prime Minister, Dr Terrance Drew’s constituency. The Prime Minister of the country took the opportunity to thank the people of his constituency, St Peter’s for their cooperation with the government departments as they worked through the water situation in St Kitts.
The Water Department of St Kitts noted that the disruption in the water supply was caused by the low reserve in the in the Stapleton Reservoir. The department stated that the reason for this is mainly a result of maintenance work undertaken on Friday, June 2, 2023 as well as the ongoing Lack of Rainfall. Accordingly, Dr Drew extended his gratitude to the people.
He wrote that he wanted to thank the people of his constituency for their patience and understanding as the government continues to work towards rectifying the water situation. In addition to the dry weather we have been experiencing, maintenance work was conducted on Friday as they continued addressing the water issues.
The Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew urged the people of his constituency and the rest of the country to continue their cooperation and understanding. At the same time, he urged the people of the country to increase their efforts to conserve water and to continue to be mindful of the water usage.
In line with this, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew stated that the government understands the difficulties that the people have been facing regarding the water situation due to the dry weather. However, Dr Drew stated that they continue to work diligently to rectify the problem to provide better access to potable water.
Prime Minister Terrance Drew stated that the government under his charge are serious about addressing this issue. The company BEAD is already on site in Cayon to address the shortage issue. The Department has apologized to the people of the country for any inconvenience that the supply shortage may have caused to the people.
