St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party are hosting the Labour Day Meetings with the people of Constituency 4. Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew and Minister of Agriculture, creative economy, et al., attended the event hosted at the Half Way Tree on April 20, 2023. The meeting started at 8:00 PM.
The event afforded the people of Constituency Four the opportunity to interact with their leaders and get an update on all the initiatives they have taken for the country’s development. The meeting serves as a way for the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, headed by Dr Terrance Drew, to commemorate the 2023 edition of Labour Day. The Labour weekend
The Parliamentary representative of Constituency 4, Samal Duggins, took the stage during the event. He extended his heartfelt gratitude to the people of his constituency for electing him in the August 2022 elections. At the same time, the Minister shared some in-depth details about the work the government has done in the last seven months of their government.
The Minister shared that his government is working towards addressing all the people’s concerns. The people chose the government St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party led in the 2022 elections. He asserted that St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party team had initiated several programmes for the country’s benefit. Minister Samal Duggins shared some details of these programmes.
The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, also added to his colleagues’ words and expanded upon the various initiatives they have taken in the last seven months of their administration. The Prime Minister talked about the issues they have faced after assuming government control.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew called out the previous government for the shortcomings of their administration. These included inadequate provisions of water to several constituencies. PM Drew took the opportunity to give the example of his constituency, Cayon and shared that the government has tried to remedy the situation.
While, in the past, the people of Cayon did not get access to water for several days at a time, the SKNLP government has ensured that water is available for the people at least once a day. The Prime Minister also promised that they are working to make that into 24-hour availability soon.
Further, PM Terrance Drew discussed the electricity situation before his government took over. He shared that they had to invest in new generators for the country almost as soon as they took over. According to the Prime Minister, the situation was also similar in the health sector as they had to invest in several critical equipments for the hospitals, including lab equipment, eye surgery equipment and more.
The Prime Minister shared that the Labour Government has been working for the people, stressing that they have only completed seven months in the government. They made several new appointments in the healthcare sector, including new specialists for various country sectors.
